Qualified Domestic Relations Order

At Morneau Law, we assist individuals and formerly married couples with the preparation of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) to divide retirement assets in accordance with the terms of a Final Decree of Divorce. This includes the division of defined benefit plans such as 401(k)s and pensions. We understand that dividing retirement assets can feel complex, and our goal is to make the process as clear and efficient as possible.

Our team will guide you through each step, from gathering the necessary information to drafting the QDRO and coordination with the applicable plan administrator. As part of our services, we will seek pre-approval of the QDRO from the plan administrator to help ensure compliance with plan requirements before submission to the Court. Once pre-approval is obtained, we will provide guidance on the final steps needed to file with the Court and complete the division of assets.
